A QMI Initiative​

QMICC is a single point of contact for Queensland Muslims and their families seeking help and advice in general, but particularly during a crisis, with the express purpose of directing them to appropriate services, resources and expertise within and outside the community. 

MISSION: 

  1. To improve the health and well-being of the individuals, families, and communities amongst the Muslims of Queensland.
  2. To provide information and counselling and direct individuals, families and communities seeking help and advice in a crisis to appropriate services resources and expertise. 
  3. To reach out to people in need. 
  4. To establish QMCC as the single point of contact for individuals, families and communities seeking help in a crisis. 
  5. To develop and create awareness of QMCC and it activities and services through all media sources
  6. To develop expertise in the availability of a range of existing governmental and non-governmental support services and resources that people can be directed to
  7. To develop an extensive professional and community-based experience network to support and improve our services
  8. To develop an instantly recognizable QMCC brand in the community
  9. To bridge the gap where the lack of understanding of Muslims and their cultural, spiritual, and religious identities by mainstream service providers is a shortcoming
  10. To identify and develop sources of income to ensure the long-term sustainability of QMCC
  11. To establish and maintain a database of services, resources, and expertise
  12. To train our helpline counsellors on a wide range of issues which they can address against the caller’s background, ethnicity, and religious belief systems. 
  13. To incorporate cultural and religious sensitivity into our engagement while accommodating and respecting differences in opinions, values, and attitudes within the Muslim community.
  14. To collect and manage relevant data and feedback for analysis and reporting
  15. To facilitate workshops, training programs and campaigns in identified areas of need
